- Let's try this again......
-
- Time for another appeal to the community!
-
- I'm trying to get a brand new Iomega Zip drive to work on my system, and
- have had *no* luck so far. First, the specs:
-
- Ioemga Zip drive - SCSI version
- A2000, unaccelerated (yet!)
- ADos 3.1, I meg Agnus
- GVP Impact Series II RAM Expansion (+2megs)/SCSI Controller
- gvpscsi.device version 4.5
-
- I think that's all that is relevent...
-
- On the Iomega side of things, everything seems fine. The power light
- comes on, the drive hums quietly, discs can be inserted and ejected at
- will. I don't think the drive itself is the problem. (In fact, I'm
- certain the drive is not the problem).
-
- The problem starts when I attach the scsi cable to the controller (which
- is the proper size, btw). If I attach the cable, the hard drive ceases
- to function for all practical purposes. When I turn the machine on, the
- drive light comes on for a few seconds, I can hear it spinning, and then
- nothing. And to make matters worse, it seems to stop the whole machine
- dead. The floppies will not boot either. Nor do I ever get to the default
- "insert disk" screen. This behaviour is identical when the zip drive is
- not attached at the other end of the cable, and when it is attached, in
- every combination of device number and termination allowable.
-
- To top things off, I cannot find the manual for my gvp card (believe me,
- I've searched for it!!!). I did try fiddling with some jumpers at
- random, but that did no good and I decided to stop before I screwed
- something up.
-
- So, has anyone ever successfully gotten a zip drive to work with this
- controller? And what settings on the card are required? Or does is
- sound like I've got a bad SCSI cable?
-
- Any help (here or in email) would be most gratefully accepted. Thanks.
